As the name suggests, the primary objective of our website is about obtaining the latest ferry related news and saving money on your ferry crossing – finding the best deals and saving you time trawling the internet. 

There are articles and guides detailing the best methods and products, plus special promotional deals that we have been successful in negotiating with the Operators. We hope that the site will become a focus for travelers to locate the ultimate deals and helping each other save.

The driving force behind all the website content is the weekly Ferry News page.  Often ferry operators release last minute offers and therefore your response is urgent in order to secure the best possible deal, both as companies close loopholes quickly and many top deals are time sensitive. 

If an offer is especially urgent we will highlight it, so you don't miss out.

We will endeavor wherever possible to keep the website completely free of advertising.

Whilst 'interactive articles' may sound an ostentatious title, actually it's an important feature.  At the end of each article on the site we may feature a link to the Operators site. This allows you to identify the source of the article or deal and obtain more information allowing you to make your own decisions regarding how attractive the offer will be to you.

The concept for our website began when I began to offer advice and tips on ferry travel to my friends, as and when I spotted a good deal in the course of my work. Having been involved within the travel industry for over 35 years, half of that time within the ferry industry. 

After a period of time contemplating what direction I wanted to take my career, it evolved that my extensive portfolio of established corporate contacts were still requesting that I broker exclusive travel deals for their staff and customer benefit schemes. There followed the rapid development of this new concept business and to make it easier I set up this website, which I hoped would help my clients to stay up to date with developments within the ferry industry.


The concept was conceived in 2001 when I decided to spend my time developing the website and make access available to the public at large. It certainly had some good personal brand building potential, so I am now involved in driving the concept forward and completely re-designing this new publicly accessible website – and so we are now really launched.

The ferrydiscounts.com team

For a long time the site has been a one man band.  In January 2005 I recognized the need to have some additional office back-up and this is now in place in addition to various people that assist on the technical and administrative side of the project. 

The rapid development has all been gratifying.  In the old days I used to do every piece of administration and information compiling, now the team helps me do that, keep the site up to date and compile the information.  All this leaves me free to write more articles and dedicate myself fully to negotiating deals with the operators and corporate client base.  I still write every word on the site, and all the recommendations still come directly from me.

Keeping this site on a personal level is important to me.  The domain now may have significant traffic, but it is still a personal site following a cohesive money saving and informative logic, and hopefully one you know you can trust. My aim is to maintain my own consistent standards.


Is it possible to get personal travel consultancy?

At this moment I only offer one-to-one consultancy to my corporate clients. This website is currently purely an extension of my research – although I always welcome your feedback and will respond whenever appropriate.  All the information on the site should allow you to make your own reservations and decisions, hopefully locating the best possible deals.  Do make sure you are accessing the most up-to-date information – remember that deals can sometimes change on an hourly basis and we can only be correct at the time of publication.
